New playground at Rupley School in Elk Grove
The playground shared by Andrews Park and Rupley Elementary School in Elk Grove Village has been renovated recently as a nationally-designated "Play On!" site, park district officials said.
The refurbished play area at 305 Ridgewood Road includes all of the basic elements of play: sliding, swinging, spinning, climbing, balancing and overhead climbing. "Play On!" is a program that aligns those elements with national standards of exercise, officials said.
The old playground equipment was donated to Kids Around the World, a Rockford organization that refurbishes and reinstalls playgrounds in disadvantaged countries.
