Oswego man accused of stalking Naperville teen

A 50-year-old Oswego man has been charged with stalking a teenage girl in Naperville for more than a year and a half, authorities said Wednesday.

Matthew J. Barkley, of the 4600 block of Mclaren Drive, was arrested by Naperville police on Monday night and charged with two counts of felony stalking, according to the Will County state's attorney's office. Barkley is accused of opening the girl's garage on Dec. 18, 2014, and March 14, 2015, with a garage door opener. He also is accused of driving past the victim's home on multiple occasions between May 27 and Monday. The girl feared she would be harmed, officials said.

The investigation started, officials said, when the victim noticed items missing from her house and that someone had accessed her social media accounts.

Barkley's next court date is Aug. 23, and he is being held at the Will County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
