Former Motorola campus to become new 'destination,' developer says

A hotel, offices, retail stores and housing are all being considered for the former Motorola Solutions campus in Schaumburg, an executive with Chicago-based UrbanStreet Group said yesterday. UrbanStreet, a real estate investment and development firm, last week acquired about 225 acres of the campus and will work with village officials to finalize a plan for its redevelopment in the next six months. Woman shot to death in Elk Grove Township

An Elk Grove Township woman was shot to death Sunday in the Willoway Terrace mobile home community, and the Cook County sheriff's office says it has a relative in custody. Divina Salgado, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:45 p.m., according to Sophia Ansari, spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff. Full story.

DeVry accused of deceptive practices

Downers Grove-based DeVry Education Group said it is under investigation by the Massachusetts attorney general for "possible unfair or deceptive methods." In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, DeVry said it received a demand on July 26 in a civil investigation seeking documents from Jan. 1, 2011, to the present. It is relating to DeVry University's recruitment of students and the reporting of placement and earning statistics, the filing said. Full story.
