49ers sign rookie guard Garnett to 4-year deal

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - The San Francisco 49ers signed former Stanford guard Joshua Garnett to a four-year deal Friday, finally getting the last of their 11 draft picks under contract.

The 6-foot-5, 321-pound Garnett was selected 28th overall with the second of the 49ers' two first-round draft picks.

Garnett won the Outland Trophy last season as the nation's most outstanding lineman, the first Stanford player to win the award. He also was the ninth unanimous All-America selection in Stanford history and took the Morris Trophy as the Pac-12 Lineman of the Year.
