United flight diverted to O'Hare after threat

A United flight from Newark, N.J., was diverted to O'Hare International Airport on Wednesday night after a threat was made against it, officials said.

The flight - which was headed to Seattle - was diverted before 8 p.m., said Chicago Police Office Kevin Quaid. Police did not have details about the threat, but other media reported that it was deemed not credible by authorities.

As a precaution, all passengers and crew were taken off the plane and back to the terminal, Quaid said.

Chicago Police and the FBI are investigating the threat, which other media reported.
