Louisiana-Lafayette receiver Devin Scott out for season

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The University of Louisiana at Lafayette's receiver Devin Scott is out for the season with a knee injury.

Coach Mark Hudspeth revealed the news Monday during Sun Belt Media Day in New Orleans.

Hudspeth tells The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/2aiVydc ) Scott tore a patellar tendon while doing offseason conditioning work Saturday. He says Scott was projected to start at wide receiver this season.

Hudspeth says the fourth-year senior who played as a true freshman in 2013 can take a medical redshirt this year and be eligible to play in 2017. Scott has 18 career catches for 326 yards.

In addition, Hudspeth says Gary Haynes, the team's backup slot receiver last season, will be suspended for the Cajuns' Sept. 3 opener against Boise State for violating an undisclosed team rule.
