3 things to watch at the Democratic convention Tuesday
The second day of the Democratic National Convention will include a speaker with suburban ties who has come into the public eye following the death of her daughter. Here's what to watch for Tuesday in Philadelphia:
• Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of former Naperville woman Sandra Bland, will be part of a Mothers of the Movement panel set to get a high-profile speaking spot at the convention Tuesday. Bland died in a Texas jail following a traffic stop more than a year ago. Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has appeared with Reed-Veal before, including in Chicago.
• Former President Bill Clinton is set to speak, making a pitch to send his wife back to the White House - with her in charge this time. In 2012, he gave a stemwinder of a convention speech on behalf of President Barack Obama's re-election. Will Bill Clinton talk about his presidency in making the pitch this time? Or will he focus on the nominee's own experience when speaking to delegates?
• Tuesday is expected to bring the official nomination of Hillary Clinton. A day after Bernie Sanders supporters sought to make their presence known, will the process come with drama?
