Memorial donor drive: Calicchio Court At Recreation Park, Arlington Hts, Il

Our friend Michael A. Calicchio left us over 15 years ago. "Friends of Michael A. Calicchio", headed by Peter and Michael Phillips, are very excited to announce the dedication of the outdoor basketball court at Recreation Park in Arlington Hts. lL. in the memory of our late dear friend, Michael A. Calicchio. A memorial site, including a memorial bench, will be located next to the outdoor court Mike and friends spent many hours playing on.

A public dedication event will take place on Saturday, September 24th - the day before Mike's birthday. Event time is to be determined and announced on this Facebook page in the coming weeks. A rendering of the memorial is posted here as our page cover photo.

We need your help though...

With the enthusiastic support and assistance of the Arlington Hts. Park District, the memorial bench and walkway with inlaid bronze plaque and pavers will be constructed fall of 2016. The Park District will manage construction and maintenance of the memorial as a permanent fixture of the park. The materials and construction costs will be several thousand dollars and, while we are truly grateful for the participation and contribution of the Park District, a significant cost remains. We invite Mike's friends, former Village of Arlington Hts. co-workers and Saint Viator classmates & teammates to join us in creating the "Calicchio Court At Recreation Park" memorial.

Individual receipts with tax ID number provided by the Arlington Hts. Park District will be provided for each donation and the master receipt from the Arlington Hts. Park District will be posted on this page and distributed as requested once issued.

In addition to overall memorial project contributions, individuals, organizations and companies may also have an individual clay paver inscribed with personal message and installed within the walkway paver area as depicted in memorial rendering on this page in photos. Paver inscription may include 3 lines of 15 characters per line.
