Deere continues layoffs with 120 at East Moline plant

MOLINE, Ill. (AP) - Deere & Company says it is laying off 120 employees at an East Moline factory as part of ongoing job cuts.

The company said in a news release Friday that the production employees are being indefinitely laid off as the company tries to adjust to anticipate decreases in the sales of agricultural equipment this year.

Deere spokesman Ken Golden said the East Moline plant makes combines and other harvesting equipment.

Golden said the Moline-based company has laid off about 2,000 employees as it deals with expected decreases in the sales of agricultural equipment this year.
