Lightning starts Barrington Hills house fire Thursday night

A lightning strike started a Barrington Hills house on fire Thursday night, but no one was injured, the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District reported Friday morning.

Crews getting to the house on the 100 block of Brinker Road at 10:34 p.m. saw fire showing in the attic area of the home.

Firefighters got onto the second floor of the home and put the fire out. There was significant damage to the interior of the attic. No damage estimate is yet available as the investigation continues, a BCFPD news release said.

Members of the Buffalo Grove, Cary, Hoffman Estates, Long Grove, Lake Zurich, Fox River Grove, Barrington, Streamwood, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling and Deerfield fire departments assisted.
