Dance Dynamics walks away with 2016 Geneva's Got Talent grand prize

On June 25, Dance Dynamics of Geneva was named the fifth annual Geneva's Got Talent Winner and won the $1,000 grand prize. The dancers, Frankie Henson, Madelyn Wardynski, Faith Petersen, Emily Mundry, Lilly Japlon and Maeve Krzysiak, performed a dance called "Uninvited" to the song of the same name by Alanis Morisette. The dance was choreographed by the owner of Dance Dynamics, Brittnie Quinn.

"Winning Geneva's Got Talent was such a huge accomplishment for these dancers and the studio. Being able to showcase their talent and what we do at Dance Dynamics was both a great experience and a great win. We were against so many different talents, and to be able to win against it all of it was so amazing. I am so proud of these dancers and of how incredibly they represented Dance Dynamics. These girls have been working hard on this dance all year and really proved to everyone what you can accomplish with discipline, dedication, and hard work," Quinn said.

Geneva's Got Talent 2016 started with 31 acts auditioning May 7. Sixteen semi-finalists were chosen to perform June 22 on Swedish Days Central Stage: Jessica Blakely, Kaidyn King, Grace Lagattolla, Grace Lenaghan, Matt Skirmont, Addelyn McDonald, Kiley Murray, Katie O'Brien, Aida Skaraite, Meagan Clemens, Ryan Cichon, Maya Hawkins, Fire the Canon, LiveWire, Dance Dynamics and Batavia Academy of Dance.

Due to inclement weather, the semi-finals were cancelled and all 16 performers moved on to the finals. Judges votes, combined with Facebook votes, determined the 2016 winner.

The Geneva Chamber of Commerce and the Geneva Park District congratulate Dance Dynamics and all other talented contestants who participated in this years' event. They also wish to to thank the judges, Mike Jacoby, Bryan Skreens, and Dan Huber; and emcee Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns.

"This is a great event that brings the community and people of all ages together for free summer fun. The array of talent each year is just phenomenal. We look forward to seeing even more talent audition for the 2017 Geneva's Got Talent Competition next May," said Traci Wicks, director of marketing & public relations for the Geneva Park District.

Geneva's Got Talent is a collaboration between the Geneva Park District and the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. It was part of the 2016 Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine.
