Chicago police take precautions after Baton Rouge shootings

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Police Department has responded to the shooting deaths of three law enforcement officers in Louisiana by continuing to require officers to ride in pairs and in uniform as they've been doing since the slayings of five officers in Dallas.

In a statement, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says officers have been notified about Sunday morning's shooting in Baton Rouge but that there's no known threat to police in Chicago.

The shooting that left three officers dead and three others injured in Baton Rouge came less than two weeks after a black man was shot and killed by police in that city. On July 7, during a protest march partially inspired by the initial shooting, a gunman in Dallas fatally shot five police officers.
