2 teen boys die when ATV strikes tree in West Terre Haute

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana conservation police say two teen boys have died in an all-terrain vehicle accident in West Terre Haute.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the teens died Friday evening when the ATV they were riding struck a tree. The victims were identified as 17-year-old Curtis England and 16-year-old Jordan Herring, both from West Terre Haute.

Police say a delivery truck driver called 911 just before 7 p.m. on Friday to report an ATV on the edge of the roadway. Police say it appears the boys were trying to negotiate a curve in the roadway when the ATV struck the tree. Police say both boys were wearing helmets.

The crash is under investigation. It's not clear which boy was operating the ATV at the time of the accident.
