High School Comedy Playhouse theater program presents 'Bat-Hamlet'

The High School Comedy Playhouse theater program at Palatine Park District presents "Bat-Hamlet" at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

Performances will be July 16, 17, 22 and 24. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m., and Sunday performances are at 3 p.m. Tickets are available through the Cutting Hall Box Office at www.cuttinghall.org or (847) 202-5222.

"Bat-Hamlet" tells the tale of a Dark Knight that emerges from betwixt the pages of Shakespeare to exact revenge on his murderous uncle, King Jester. Once resolved to avenge beloved King Police Commissioner Gordrick's death, Hamlet dons the persona of Bat-Hamlet, a flashier and much cooler version of his brooding youth.

The universes of Shakespeare and Batman collide as Songbird Boy, Lord Riddles, O-Feline, Bat-Hamlet-Girl and many others unfold this dastardly plot. Fans of Shakespeare and Batman, alike, will love being immersed in the maddening spiral of these iconic characters.

High School Comedy Playhouse is a new, nonmusical theater program offered by the Palatine Park District exclusively for high school students. This year's production features students from Fremd, Palatine, Warren Township, and Cary-Grove.

Among the cast is Hailey Bond, Richard Diamond, Nathan Du, Daniel Kaniewski, Katie Lavris, Amanda Lisitza, Luke Madden, Molly Mensch, and Hannah Miller. The production is directed by Christopher Pantelis and written by Chicago playwright Jordan Pulliam.
