Details announced for ceremony honoring Pat Summitt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Anyone planning to attend the Pat Summitt "Celebration of Life" ceremony Thursday at Thompson-Boling Arena should arrive well ahead of time.

Although the ceremony honoring Tennessee's former women's basketball coach won't start until 7 p.m., doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Fans should be seated with cellphones silenced by 6:30 p.m.

Flash photography of any kind is prohibited. The use of professional-type cameras or live video streaming by spectators also is prohibited.

If there are more spectators than the arena can hold, fans will be seated first come, first served. The overflow will go to the Cox Auditorium in the Alumni Memorial Building.

The event will be streamed live on http://www.utsports.com and http://www.patsummitt.org . The event also is expected to be televised on ESPN2 and SEC Network. Additional information is available on http://www.utsports.com/summittcelebration .

Summitt died June 28 at the age of 64. Summitt won eight national titles and a Division I record 1,098 games at Tennessee before stepping down in 2012, one year after announcing she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer's type.
