Schaumburg Library deadline approaches for Teen Film Fest

Teens are invited to use their creativity to make short films (seven-minute maximum) for the Teen Film Fest at the Schaumburg Township District Library. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1. Submission forms and rules can be found at teen.shaumburglibrary.org. Films will be shown during the Teen Film Fest from 6:30-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 in the Program Room of Teen Place at the library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Teens should upload their original films, seven minutes or shorter in length, to the film director's YouTube account, then email a link to studio@stdl.org. Those who do not have a YouTube account may download their film on a flash drive and deliver it to the Teen Place Desk on the library's second floor. A name must be attached to the flash drive. Only original films created by filmmakers age 12-19 will be accepted for the Teen Film Fest, and each submission must be accompanied by a completed entry form.

The library's tips for filmmaking include "make what you want, keep it appropriate and, most importantly, have fun." Teens working on films are welcome to book time in the library's studio to use the green screen and cameras or to record music. To book the studio or ask questions about the Teen Film Fest, contact Jeremy Slayton at (847) 923-3242 or studio@stdl.org.
