Murray to play for Britain in Davis Cup quarters vs Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) - Andy Murray will lead the Britain in next week's Davis Cup quarterfinal against Serbia, which will be without No. 1-ranked Novak Djokovic.

Serbia also will be without its No. 2, Viktor Troicki.

Murray was selected for Britain on Tuesday, along with brother Jamie, Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans and Dominic Inglot.

Andy Murray led Britain to the Davis Cup title last year, its first in 79 years, and will play in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Wednesday. His presence will make Britain the favorite in the Davis Cup quarter, despite having to play at Tasmajdan Stadium in Belgrade from July 15-17.

"In making himself available for the tie, Andy has once again shown incredible commitment to his country," Britain captain Leon Smith said.

Djokovic said after losing to Sam Querrey in Wimbledon's third round on Saturday that he would not be playing in the Davis Cup against Britain. Troicki pulled out because he wants to concentrate on the ATP hard-court season.

In their absence, Serbia captain Bodan Obradovic has selected Dusan Lajovic, Janko Tipsarevic, Filip Krajnovic and doubles specialist Nenad Zimonjic.

Lajovic is the only Serb ranked in the top 100 at No. 82. Tipsarevic is a former top-10 player now ranked No. 411 after a long-term injury.
