No injuries reported in gas leak at Naperville senior facility
Residents have returned to a senior residence on the 500 block of West Ogden Avenue after a natural gas leak was reported in the building around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department.
First responders from the Naperville Fire Department found an increased level of natural gas and carbon monoxide on the first floor of Sunrise Assisted Living, according to the release. The facility reported 74 residents and 20 employees inside the building when the 911 call was made.
Several residents stayed with family while crews investigated, and others were evacuated to facilities nearby.
Authorities determined the leak came from a commercial, gas-fed dryer on the first floor.
During the investigation, Nicor Gas also removed two dryers from service for venting issues.
The investigation concluded at 4:03 p.m., and the facility was turned over to management.
No injuries or illnesses were reported, according to the Naperville Fire Department.
