District 207 superintendent gets $50,000 merit bonus

Maine Township High School District 207 Superintendent Ken Wallace has received a $50,000 merit bonus for accomplishing goals set by the school board last school year.

Wallace is being paid a base salary of $210,000, but his contract allows for the additional merit pay after an evaluation with the board every year.

Among Wallace's goals the board said he met: conduct a school day class schedule review and make a recommendation on a possible bell schedule, and develop a plan to lower student fees by at least 5 percent on average.

“His leadership is stretching the district toward goals that set District 207 apart as a recognized innovator both locally and nationally, especially in the areas of technology and college and career pathway exploration,” Board President Carla Owen said in a statement.
