Former top QB recruit Sills transferring from West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Former blue-chip quarterback recruit David Sills, who received a scholarship offer from Southern California while he was in middle school, is leaving West Virginia and plans to transfer to junior college.

Sills played receiver last season for West Virginia, making seven catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. He caught the game-winning touchdown in West Virginia's 43-42 victory against Arizona State in the Cactus Bowl.

Sills, from Wilmington, Delaware, drew national attention when he committed to USC as a seventh-grader while Lane Kiffin was coaching the Trojans. Sills ended up at West Virginia and redshirted his freshman year before moving to receiver last year.

Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen says in a statement that Stills is transferring to "pursue his dream of playing quarterback in college."
