Eagan officials approve Minnesota Vikings' building plans

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) - The Eagan City Council has unanimously approved the Minnesota Vikings' plans to build a new headquarters and training facility in the Twin Cities suburb.

Despite concerns over the amount of signage and potential parking congestion, the council voted Tuesday night to change the land-use designation to mixed use so the team can create a development on nearly 200 acres of land that includes housing, retail, office space, a hotel and public green space.

Team vice president Lester Bagley said March 2018 is the target date for moving from the outdated Winter Park facility in Eden Prairie to the new corporate and team headquarters in Eagan.

The new headquarters will be the first phase of the 15-year mixed-use project. The team could break ground on the project as early as next month.
