Race distance: (218.9 miles, 110 laps)

Last year: Kyle Busch held off his brother Kurt for the victory, kicking off a stretch of four wins in five races that helped Kyle win the championship.

Last race: Joey Logano won for the first time in 2016 at Michigan. It was also the third straight top-10 finish for Logano.

Fast facts: The Sprint Cup visits its first road course of 2016 this weekend. There's no odds-on favorite at Sonoma given that 10 different drivers have won the last 11 races in Northern California. But series leader Kyle Busch won in Sonoma last year and is the only previous winner to place first there more than once. ... Tony Stewart, who is in desperate need of a win to make the Chase in his final season, is the current leader in road course wins with seven. ... Rookie Chase Elliott has come on the past two races, finishing fourth at Pocono and second at Michigan.

Track: Gateway Motorsports Park (oval, 1.25 miles).

Race distance: 200 miles, 160 laps

Last year: Cole Custer, helped by a Matt Crafton crash and electrical problems with Erik Jones, won despite leading just 17 laps.

Last race: William Byron emerged after a furious finish for his third win in just nine career starts.

Fast facts: Custer, who finished second at Iowa, could use a repeat of last year's success at Gateway. Custer is winless in 2016 and is 14 points below the Chase cutline, but a victory this weekend would send him to the playoffs. ... Tyler Reddick spent six years living in Illinois, just 85 miles from Gateway, as a teenager before moving to Charlotte to pursue a career in NASCAR.

Last race: Sebastian Bourdais and Will Power kicked off June with wins at Belle Island.

Fast facts: The IndyCar series returns to Road America for the first time since 2007 this weekend. The series has held 26 races in Elkhart Lake since 1982. ... Only nine current IndyCar drivers have run at Road America. Bourdais leads that list with 92 laps led. He also won the last race held there in 2007 while in Champ Car. ... This weekend's race will be the seventh of nine so far on a road or street course.

Last race: Shawn Langdon, in his first finals appearance of the season, beat Tony Schumacher at Thunder Valley.

Fast facts: Brown, who is second to Kalitta in the race for the championship, won at Ohio in 2014. But Kalitta has already matched his win total from 2015 with three so far. ... Tommy Johnson Jr. won last week in Funny Car to move to seventh in the standings.

Next race: Route 66 Nationals, July 7-10, Route 66 Raceway, Chicago.
