Dundee Township official charged with indecent exposure

Dundee Township Highway Commissioner Larry Braasch has been charged with indecent exposure after witnesses told police he inappropriately touched himself in front of children at a Myrtle Beach campground, police said.

Braasch, 70, of Dundee Township, was arrested at about 4 p.m. June 15 after a lifeguard and several witnesses told police they saw him with his hands outside and inside of his pants at an indoor pool area at Ocean Lakes Family Campground, 6001 S. Kings Highway, in Myrtle Beach, according to a Horry County, South Carolina, police report.

He was charged with indecent exposure after witnesses said he was sitting near a glass door and touching his genital area while watching underage girls, police said. One witness told police she questioned what he was doing and spoke with him but he laughed and continued touching himself. Security was notified but he left the area as they approached, the report states.

He told police he was just "fixing himself" and didn't know what police were talking about, police said. Meanwhile, the Ocean Lakes Family Campground put him on trespassing notice.

Braasch has been Dundee Township Highway Commissioner since 2000. In 2009, he faced criticism for putting his name on the side of the township building in 14-inch letters - the same size as the name of the building. He then took the letters down, which he said he paid for himself at about $15 per letter, after being criticized for installing them just months before an election.

Braasch was held overnight at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County, South Carolina, before posting bond and being released.
