Two Mundelein houses damaged by fire

A garage fire at a Mundelein house spread to a neighboring house Thursday, but no one was hurt, authorities said. The blaze was reported shortly before 2 a.m. to a house on the 0-100 block of S. Hawthorne Boulevard. It spread to a nearby house, according to a news release. Firefighters from 15 area departments were called in to help eliminate the blaze. The fires were out by 3:30 a.m. Damage was estimated at $57,000 to the first house and $80,000 to the second.
