Aurora man charged in armed robbery
A 23-year-old Aurora man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery last July.
Adrian S. Gerena, of the 400 block of North River Street, was charged with aggravated armed robbery after being taken into custody Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force.
He was wanted in connection with the 2015 armed robbery of a 66-year-old Aurora man who was waiting for his wife to leave her workplace on the 400 block of North Lake Street.
The victim told police he was sitting in his car about 9:45 p.m. that day waiting for his wife when he was approached by an armed man wearing a mask who demanded his wallet.
Police said they were able to determine Gerena's involvement thanks in part to video surveillance.
Additional charges are still possible, police said.
Gerena is being held in the Kane County Correctional Center in St. Charles in lieu of $40,000 bail.
