Aurora molester will go to prison for at least 40 years

An Aurora child molester who was convicted on Wednesday will be sentenced to at least 40 years in prison, officials said.

Jamie Dominguez, 48 of the 700 block of Cypress Drive, was convicted by Kane County Associate Judge David Kliment of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, six counts of criminal sexual assault, attempted criminal sexual assault and attempted aggravated sexual abuse, according to a news release.

Prosecutors showed evidence that between November 2001 and July 2014 Dominguez sexually assaulted the victim, who was younger than 12 when many of the offenses occurred. Additional evidence was presented that while Dominguez was awaiting trial he pressured the victim to claim she had lied to authorities about the sexual assaults, according to the release.

Dominguez must register for life as a sex offender.

The Aurora man had been free on $15,000 bail. After his conviction, Dominguez was taken to the Kane County jail.

He will next appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 30 for motions and sentencing.
