Suburban Chicago man charged with false hostage report

BEACH PARK, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man is accused of falsely reporting in a 911 call that someone had shot his mother and sister, and was holding his father hostage.

A Monday statement from the Lake County Sheriff's Office says 51-year-old Robert Bruckner of Beach Park is charged with disorderly conduct - a class-four felony. He was being held on $10,000 bail.

Bruckner called 911 on Sunday to report the alleged attacks and to say someone had a gun to his father's head. Deputies arrived at his Beach Park residence and moved in only to find it empty. They later learned Bruckner's relatives were safe in Wisconsin.

The sheriff's office says Bruckner offered no explanation. There was no answer Monday at a residential telephone number for Bruckner.

His next court hearing is Thursday.
