Reel life: There was much rejoicing for 40 years of 'Holy Grail'

• I've never heard of a “Sing-Along Quote-Along” movie celebration before, but the After Hours Film Society will throw one for the 40th anniversary of the cult comedy “Monty Python & the Holy Grail,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., Downers Grove.

Performers Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin wrote the screenplay. Gilliam and Jones codirected. A special admission — $8 (members), $12 (nonmembers) — will be charged as a fundraiser for the After Hours Film Society's Say It In Eight Student Film Festival on Oct. 17. • Glencoe native and actress Lili Taylor may get her wish after all. During a May 10 interview for our Suburbs to Showbiz column, Taylor said she had “blast” working on James Wan's 2013 horror movie “The Conjuring” and wanted to be in its sequel, opening this weekend.

“I begged them to let me be in the second one,” she said. “Begged them! I said, 'I'll put on so much makeup you'll never know it was me!'” That didn't happen, but hope could be on the Hollywood horizon.

In a Variety interview this week, Wan said he's already thinking about “The Conjuring 3” and said that the “true stories” of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren could be a film franchise.
