LEADING OFF: Harvey seeks fix, Royals rallying and rolling

A look at what's happening all around the majors Monday:

___

STICK WITH IT

Mets RHP Matt Harvey (3-7, 6.08 ERA) tries again to get back on track when he faces the White Sox in a Memorial Day matinee at Citi Field. Harvey has been throwing to batters between starts, attempting to fix flaws in his delivery. "I'm hoping that he relaxes. I'm hoping that he just goes out and pitches like he knows how and worry about making pitches, not so much about the mechanics," manager Terry Collins said. "We've got to wring the rag dry here. This is not just a Triple-A guy who's up for a tryout. This is a guy who started an All-Star Game a couple of years ago and was one of the best in the game, and I think we need to push him a little bit farther." Jose Quintana (5-4, 2.22) pitches for Chicago.

RALLYING ROYALS

Kansas City brings an unlikely winning streak into a three-game series against the Rays. The Royals won three straight against the White Sox over the weekend, all after trailing by two runs or more entering the seventh inning - a first in franchise history.

AMAZING MAY

Giants RHP Jeff Samardzija (7-2, 2.54) tries to wrap an impressive month while San Francisco opens a four-game series in Atlanta. Samardzija is 4-1 with a 1.41 ERA in five starts this month. He's averaging 7 2/3 innings per outing and has proven effective and efficient since signing a $90 million, five-year deal in the offseason as a free agent.

TWINS SLUGGING

Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano are driving a surprising winning streak for Minnesota. Both players homered in each victory during a three-game sweep against the Mariners over the weekend, and Sano has gone deep in four straight games - all Twins victories.

STARTING STRONG

Rangers INF Jurickson Profar, who had two singles on Sunday, has a hit in all nine of his career starts in the leadoff spot. He is hitting there and playing second base during Rougned Odor's seven-game suspension for punching Toronto's Jose Bautista during a May 15 brawl. The Rangers start a three-game set at Cleveland.
