Indiana bobcat hit by car is released following recovery

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - A bobcat kitten struck by a car last fall has been released back into the wild following months of recovery at a wildlife center.

The young female was released Saturday into a forested area near Lake Monroe by staff with Wildcare Inc., the Bloomington, Indiana, center where she recovered from surgery to repair her fractured pelvis. The kitten was hit by a car in November as she followed her mother and a sibling across a highway in Bloomington.

She underwent surgery at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, Illinois, and was later moved to Wildcare.

WildCare board vice president Amanda Wrigley tells The (Bloomington) Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/1NMyAtO ) the bobcat sports a distinctive, spotted coat and is "so physically agile you'd never know she sustained an injury."
