Jamey Johnson headlining country day at Naperville's Last Fling
Labor Day at the Last Fling in Naperville will be "We Love Our Country" Day with two country music acts and free admission for military veterans, festival organizers said Tuesday.
The main stage on Monday, Sept. 5 will play host to singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson at 6 p.m. and country group Hillbilly Rockstarz at 2:30 p.m. at Rotary Hill along the Riverwalk.
One other act for Labor Day is yet to be announced.
Headliner Johnson's songs "Give It Away" and "In Color" have won song of the year honors from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. The Alabama native has released five studio albums beginning with 2002's "They Call Me Country."
Hillbilly Rockstarz specializes in covering country hits and favorites by artists such as Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.
General admission tickets for the day of country shows are $20 and pit passes are $30 until July 4 at lastfling.org. Starting July 5, prices for both kinds of tickets increase by $10.
The country day is the finale of the four-day festival, which includes a carnival, business expo, kids activities, contests, races and a Labor Day parade.
Other concerts during the 51st annual Last Fling hosted by the Naperville Jaycees include cover bands One of These Nights (Eagles tribute) and Foreigners Journey on Friday, Sept. 2. Toad the Wet Sprocket and Rusted Root perform Saturday, Sept. 3, and the Summerland Tour bands Sugar Ray, Everclear, Lit and Sponge take the stage Sunday, Sept. 4.
