Softball: Elgin's Rago no-hits Addison Trail

Elgin (8-24) advanced to Tuesday's semifinal at the Class 4A St. Charles North regional with an unconventional no-hitter for pitcher Jessica Rago in a 4-1 win over Addison Trail.

No. 17 seed Addison Trail scored a run in the fifth on an error as No. 16 Elgin totaled 3 but Rago (8-13) allowed no hits in 7 innings of work. She struck out 15 and walked none while Madison Latham was 1-for-3 with a double, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Lexi Ruiz added a triple and the reward for the Maroons is the top-seeded North Stars at 4:30 p.m.

Streamwood 4, Hoffman Estates 1: At the Class 4A Hoffman Estates regional, the No. 14 Sabres (13-17) advanced past the No. 19 Hawks thanks to Jessica Daley (3 RBI), who doubled in 2 runs in the fifth. Jessica Daley got the win in the circle, going the distance allowing 7 hits on 1 run, 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. Streamwood will play No. 3 St. Charles East in a regional semifinal today at 4:30 p.m.

Glenbard North 13, Larkin 4: The host Royals' season concluded at the Class 4A Larkin regional despite Sam Wahl's 2-run triple and Jocelyn Jimenez's 1 run and 1 RBI.

CL South 5, CL Central 2: Sam Burgard's 2-run homer helped fuel a Fox Valley Conference crossover win for the Gators (13-12) in the Battle of Crystal Lake. Emily Sulikowski (2-for-3, RBI) and Lauren Schoen each doubled while Christina Toniolo (4IP, 3H, 1K, 1BB) picked up the win in 4 innings of work.
