Naperville Kite Fly Festival on June 5

The Naperville Park District's Frontier Kite Fly Festival on Sunday, June 5, offers the chance to see expert kite flyers in action and learn from them how to get - and keep - a kite in the air.

The festival, presented by the Naperville Moms Network, is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Frontier Sports Complex, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville. Admission is free.

Enthusiasts from Chicago Kite will demonstrate their skill flying gigantic kites. Participants also can practice flying their own kites and get how-to-fly tips from the experts. Kids can watch the skies as well for the piñata-like Sky Kite, which drops candy several times during the day.

Unlimited inflatable jumping is available for $5, and food trucks will offer concessions. Food trucks at the event may include Aurelio's pizza, Kona Ice treats, TCBY, Thatsanice and Big Papa Dogs.

Free entertainment will be provided by local talent according to the following schedule:

• 11 a.m. - Andrew Huber

• Noon - Hot Famales (fourth-place winner at Battle of the Bands)

• 1 p.m. - Neuqua Valley High School Steel Band

• 2 p.m. - Istvan and His Imaginary Band

• 3 p.m. - Bunny Repellent (third-place winner at Battle of the Bands)

The Neptune fire truck, which carried first responders from Neptune, New Jersey, to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, will be present at the event. Neptune was donated by the Terry Farrell Foundation to the Bike Bald organization in support of pediatric cancer research and awareness.
