Author Jane Hamilton at Gurnee library
Nationally known author Jane Hamilton plans to appear at Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee on Tuesday, May 24. Hamilton is scheduled to discuss her latest novel, "The Excellent Lombards," when the free appearance begins at 7 p.m. The book tells the story of Frankie Lombard, who loves her family's apple orchard, but once she begins to face threats of urbanization and disinheritance, she is forced to make tough decisions. Books will be available for purchase. There also may be a demonstration of a book cart drill team routine, as depicted in the novel. The library is at 224 N. O'Plaine Road.
