Des Plaines District 62 seeks applications following board member's resignation

Applications for an open school board seat in Des Plaines Elementary District 62 are being accepted through June 1.

Terry Lindsay, who was serving his second term on the board, resigned Monday night because he is relocating to New York to take a position at a college. Lindsay currently is an associate professor and Dean of Diversity and Intercultural Programs at North Park University.

To serve as a school board member, an applicant must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of Illinois and the school district for at least one year, and a registered voter.

To apply, submit a letter of interest and resume to: Margaret Goodchild, Secretary to the Board of Education, Community Consolidated School District 62, 777 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016, or goodchildm@d62.org.

The board will interview applicants in early June and plans to make an appointment June 20. The term expires in April 2017.
