Surgical Care Affiliates invests in SwiftPath, LLC,

DEERFIELD - Surgical Care Affiliates has made an investment in SwiftPath, LLC, a Washington-based company that develops evidence-based, rapid recovery protocols vetted by expert opinion that enable surgeons to provide patients with the option to have hip and knee replacements on an outpatient basis.

As part of the partnership, SCA Senior Vice President Goran Dragolovic and SCA Group Vice President of Development Tim Buono will join SwiftPath's board of directors.

SCA's investment in SwiftPath will be used to expand the network of surgeons who are offering this clinical option to patients in a safer and more cost effective manner.

The SwiftPath platform includes patient engagement and education, patient selection criteria, and peer-reviewed surgical techniques. SwiftPath is also at the leading edge of new technologies that enable HIPAA secure, cloud-based home-care monitoring, patient-reported outcomes, quality improvement, and other services that enable surgeons to provide patients with the option to have hip and knee replacements on an outpatient basis.

"Our relationship with SwiftPath provides SCA's physician partners with an advanced capability to improve patient care in a more cost effective setting," said Goran Dragolovic, senior vice president at SCA.

"SwiftPath is looking forward to continuing our mission of enabling surgeons to perform state-of-the-art joint replacement surgery with reduced pain and improved patient experience in the outpatient and early discharge settings," noted Dr. Craig McAllister, SwiftPath president and chief medical officer. "The SCA team shares our commitment to patients and goal to improve the quality of joint replacement care."
