Softball: Wold's wallop helps Grant past Lake Forest
Becca Wold homered, singled and knocked in 2 runs, and Grant's softball team beat Lake Forest 8-3 in a North Suburban Conference crossover on Thursday.
Kenzi Sancken and winning-pitcher Sydney Goessele also had 2 hits for the Bulldogs.
Wauconda 8, Stevenson 1: The visiting Bulldogs got home runs from Sarah Ricci and winning-pitcher Kayl Wedl in the North Suburban crossover.
Ricci also doubled, as did Brooke Sefcik. Wedl improved to 12-3, as Wauconda hiked its overall record to 19-6.
Mundelein 6, Vernon Hills 4: Amanda Diaz and Peyton Pribyl (double) each had a pair of hits for the Mustangs, who were the home team in the North Suburban crossover, despite the game being played at Vernon Hills.
Danielle Comitor had a triple and 2 RBI for Vernon Hills.
Hampshire 9, Grayslake Central 7: Breanna Albert's 3-run homer in the bottom of the sixth pulled the Rams even at 5-5, before the Whip-Purs scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the inning, Trinity Buck's 2-run double got Grayslake Central within two, but the Rams got no closer.
Reagen Radke allowed 5 earned runs in taking the loss, as the Rams fell to 16-12 and 9-2 in the Fox Valley Fox.
Warren 12, Lake Forest 2: On Wednesday, the Blue Devils (18-11) won in five innings to improve to 9-2 in the North Suburban Lake, as Caitlyn Britton went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.
Nicole Somppi was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for Warren, which also got 2-for-3 performances from Crystal Pennell (double, 3 RBI) and Kayla Nommensen (double). Sabrina Trevino was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.
