Last week: Kyle Busch broke his winless streak at Kansas Speedway, holding off Kevin Harvick for his third victory of the young season.

Fast facts: Busch shaved his deficit to Harvick, the series leader, to just four points ahead of this weekend. ... Martin Truex Jr. won the pole and led a race-high 172 laps at Kansas before mechanical issues knocked him out of contention. Truex is 11th in the standings for Furniture Row racing.

Last year: Tyler Reddick held off Daniel Suarez and Erik Jones for his first of two wins in 2015.

Last week: Eighteen-year-old William Byron picked up his first series win at Kansas. It was just the fifth start for Byron, who sped past Johnny Sauter and Ben Rhodes on the final lap.

Fast facts: Byron was the recipient of good and bad luck last weekend. Reddick's spin-out drew a caution that wiped out Byron's five-second lead with four laps left, but Sauter got into Rhodes on the final lap, setting up a clean path to the finish line. ... NASCAR's 2017 schedule for trucks includes five stand-alone races, highlighted by the Eldora event on July 19.

Last race: Simon Pagenaud won his second consecutive race in late April at Barber Motorsports Park, a road course that's nearly as long as the one in Indianapolis.

Fast facts: Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Mark Miles, CEO of IndyCar's parent company, said last week that they're working to bring a race to Boston in the near future. IndyCar organizers recently canceled plans for a Labor Day race in the city over what they said were unreasonable demands by the city. ... Matthew Brabham will make his series debut this weekend. Brabham won an Indy Lights race on Indy's road course two years ago.
