Baseball: St. Charles North rallies past Waubonsie Valley

St. Charles North rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the fifth against Waubonsie Valley to even the score on Sam Faith's single and Brendan Joyce's sixth inning sac fly was the difference in this 4-3 Upstate Eight crossover win.

North (23-3, 20-1) secured its 20th conference win as Jack Lambert (6 H, 3 R, 3ER, 1 BB) went 7 innings and tossed 11 strikeouts to get the win.

Jacobs 8, McHenry 2: Mike Addante (2B) and Adam Kale (RBI) each had 2 hits as the Golden Eagles (16-10, 6-6) knocked in 4 runs in the second in a FVC Valley win. Nate Meland and Carmeon Wilson each doubled and Brenden Heiss threw 6 innings of 2-hit, 1-run ball on 8 strikeouts and 3 walks to get the win.

Harvest Christian 17, Alden-Hebron 7: Zach Pawelek had 4 hits on the day for the Lions (17-11, 7-6), who cruised to a Northeastern Athletic win thanks to a 6-run fifth inning. Grant Young (2B), Brock Wilken (2 RBI), Joey Pepper (2B, 2 RBI) and Drew Lewis each had 2 hits as Harvest totaled 17 overall. Wilken (8 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 7 K, 2 BB) went 7 innings to notch the win on the mound.

Aurora Christian 5, Serena 1: The Eagles (22-4-1) scored 4 runs in the first and set the tone early in this nonconference win. Dustin Barrett totaled 2 hits and 2 RBI while Jacob Daley and Gerald Marrero each had 1 RBI. Tanner Dissell scored 2 runs and tossed 3 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 run on 3 strikeouts to get the win.

Kaneland 13, Yorkville 0 (6 inn.): Pitcher Matt O'Sullivan struck out 10 on 89 pitches and allowed 1 walk on 2 hits in a 6-inning win for the Knights (11-8, 7-2) in a Northern Illinois Big XII East win. O'Sullivan was lethal at the plate as well going 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI. Other top Knights hitters were Joe Laudont (2B, 3B, RBI), Luke Calabrese (RBI) and Jack Marshall (2B, 3 RBI), who all had 2 hits. Jack Violett also doubled to help Kaneland total 13 hits.

Westminster Christian 10, Christian Liberty 0 (5 inn.): To conclude a previously suspended game, a 5-run second inning was a big reason the Warriors came away with a Northeastern Athletic win. Tyler Schoemann (RBI) totaled 2 hits while Theron Dorsey and Nick DeMaira doubled each. Nathen Martinez led Westminster with 3 RBI. Pitcher Nic Angiulo allowed just 2 hits along with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts in a 4-inning win. Martinez was at it again in a 14-2 win over the Chargers in 5 innings as he led Westminster (14-16, 11-3) with 2 hits, 3 RBI and a double. Matthew Schulenburg (2 RBI), Justin Rasmussen (RBI) and Ian Merlak (2 RBI) all had 2 hits each while Schoemann allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits, 5 strikeouts, 2 walks in his win on the mound.

ACC 4, Riverside-Brookfield 3: Jake Smith (2 hits, RBI) and Michael Bieterman both doubled for the Chargers, but Bieterman's RBI groundout in the fifth along with Smith scoring a on a passed ball in the subsequent at-bat helped ACC to a Metro Suburban West win. ACC (17-9) won on just 4 hits and Sean Sinisko (4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB) notched the win on the mound in 4-plus innings of work.

Prairie Ridge 5, Dundee-Crown 4: The Chargers (12-11, 7-5) dropped their fifth-straight Fox Valley Conference game as the Wolves walked off with a crossover win. Erik Hedmark (RBI) led D-C with 3 hits while Sean Jay and Matt Wiechmann both had 2 hits. Ryan Denz doubled to help the Chargers outhit PR 11-8 as pitcher Denny Denz (6.2 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 4 K, 4BB) suffered the loss.

Grayslake Central 5, Hampshire 2: The Rams broke 1-1 tie with 4 in the top half of the sixth in FVC Fox loss for the Whip-Purs (13-13, 6-10). Kyle Homa doubled for Hampshire while Kevin Michaelsen and Tyler Maglaya had 1 RBI each. Pitcher Jacob Manning was charged with the loss.

Brother Rice 1, Marmion 0: The Cadets (8-18, 3-13) were held to just 2 hits in this Chicago Catholic loss. On most days, Nick Brummel's performance on the mound would have earned a win, but as luck would have it on 88 pitches he allowed 8 hits on 1 earned run and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings of work, he suffered the loss.
