Softball: Geneva sweeps Rosary; St. Charles East wins
Katelyn Keller and Alissa Dierks each hit home runs in Game 1 Saturday then Molly Wrenn went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in Game 2 as the Geneva softball team swept a nonconference doubleheader from Rosary, winning 9-5 and 9-1.
In the opener, Keller also had a double and 2 RBI for the Vikings while Annika Radabuagh, Alyssa Kramer and Wrenn each doubled and Wrenn had 2 RBI.
Dierks hung on to get the win in the circle, allowing 9 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Natalya Flowers had 2 hits with a double for Rosary. Sarah Willman suffered the loss.
In Game 2, Catherine Geary had a double and 2 RBI for Geneva (19-6) while Keller also drove in 2 runs. Rachel Fanella was the winning pitcher with relief help from Emily Polcinski.
Aubrey Fisher had 3 hits with a triple for Rosary (9-11).
St. Charles East 9, Glenbard North 0: Delany Devor tossed a 3-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks as the Saints (23-4-1) won this nonconference game. Leading the SCE offense were Katie Kolb (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Rylee Stout (2 hits, HR), Jordan Hieber (2B), Jordan Hall (3B, RBI), Sarah Kreiner (2 hits, RBI), Sara Campagna (2 RBI) and Paige Ligocki (2B).
Dundee-Crown splits: After losing Game 1 to DeKalb 1-0, Dundee-Crown came back to win the second game 7-5 and salvage a nonconference split with the Barbs. Claire Weeks (2 hits, RBI), Hannah Gestrich (2 hits, 2 RBI), Deanna Origer (2 hits, RBI) and Maddie Pautz (3B, RBI) led the offense for the Chargers (13-13) and Kayla Sjodin picked up the win in relief. In Game 1, Sydney Ruggles suffered the loss for D-C, which had only 1 hit in the game.
Sycamore 3, Hampshire 1: Aly Snider, Melissa Esparaza and Morgan Haefling had the only hits for Hampshire (11-15) in this nonconference loss. Jasmine Lopez suffered the loss in the circle.
