Ingolstadt, RB Leipzig choose new coaches
LEIPZIG, Germany (AP) - Bundesliga promotion hopeful RB Leipzig has appointed Ralph Hasenhuettl, who kept Ingolstadt in Germany's top flight this season, as its new coach. He will be succeeded at Ingolstadt by Markus Kauczinski.
Leipzig said Friday that the 48-year-old Austrian Hasenhuettl will take over next season with a three-year contract.
The club is close to joining second-division leader Freiburg in winning promotion to the Bundesliga. With two games to play, it is five points clear of third-placed Nuremberg.
The top two clubs win automatic promotion and the third-placed team faces a promotion-relegation playoff against the 16th-placed club in the 18-team top division.
Ingolstadt said last week that Hasenhuettl wanted to leave. His contract was valid for another season.
Kauczinski will join Ingolstadt from second-division Karlsruhe on a two-year contract.
