Frank Beamer named to Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) - Former Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer is being inducted into the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame for his accomplishments at Murray State.

The induction class announced Friday also includes former Austin Peay faculty athletics representative Gaines Hunt and former Jacksonville State President William Meehan. They will be inducted June 3 in Nashville.

Beamer coached Murray State from 1981-86 and posted a 42-23-2 record before beginning his 29-season head coaching tenure at Virginia Tech. He retired at the end of the 2015 season with a combined record of 280-143-4 at Murray State and Virginia Tech.

The Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame was organized in 1977. This latest class will increase the hall's membership to 79.
