District 54 Foundation to award $26,500 in grants

The Schaumburg Township Elementary Education Foundation and its Memorial Grant Committee say the foundation is able to fulfill all 233 grant applications received by the April 11 deadline.

The foundation will distribute about $26,500 in grant money by June 1. Memorial grants are given to students in early childhood through seventh grade, allowing them to pursue an academic, cultural or athletic interest over the summer. Families must demonstrate they are in financial need to be eligible.

The grants are limited to $150 per recipient, and are funded in part through contributions in honor of individuals who have passed away.

"It is such a true pleasure to be able to tell over 200 families that the Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation can help them have an amazing summer," Memorial Grant Committee Chair Quinn Wulbecker said.
