St. Charles school taxes out of control

St. Charles School District 303 is lunging for our wallets, again. We have three middle schools and declining enrollment. But they want to spend more money, not less?

If our three middle schools are unacceptable, it's time for new administration, not more construction. And, can we get a superintendent that actually pays D303 taxes?

When did we lose control of our tax dollars? The administration has $30 million for doing whatever they want. That $30 million is our money. We should get that back, not find dubious ways to spend it. Any construction spending should be put to a referendum. That's basic democracy.

D303 is using the same orchestration tactics they used in Summit303. Attendees were carefully assigned seats to minimize spontaneous discussions. Each table had a D303 representative to "guide" the conversation. All feedback was forced into their narrowly defined format. No public commentary. No free exchange of ideas or concerns. They think that pantomiming community participation will fool us into believing it actually happened. Don't fall for it.

Everyone knows we need lower taxes and better education. D303 taxes are ridiculous. Our cost per pupil continues to climb while our educational ranking is going down.

This isn't about being stingy. It's about being sensible. I will personally spend far more fighting their irresponsible spending than I would in additional taxes. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

D303 administration has to be reminded, again, that our tax dollars are not for their professional amusement, or for lining the pockets of their cronies and district vendors. It's their job to do better with what they have. That's the real world. D303 has to respond to the same pressures that we all face. All they had to do was listen to us. Instead, once again, they'll hear it from the voting booth.
