Softball: Radke's 12 strikeouts lift Grayslake Central

Reagen Radke struck out 12 and allowed just 4 hits and 1 earned run, and Grayslake Central's softball team beat Grayslake North 6-2 in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division action on Wednesday.

Grayslake Central got on the board early with a mix of hits and defensive miscues. Grayslake North pitcher Jessica Vaughn gave up 3 earned runs to go with 3 strikeouts and 11 hits. Grace Brown picked up an RBI. Molly Rutkowski, Vaughn, Jenna Pozezinski and Carissa Popp had the hits for North.

For Central, Teagan Truskowski, Maddie Marshall, Breanna Albert and Lexi Waigand all had 2 hits. Marshall finished with 3 RBI, Trinity Buck had two, and Radke knocked in a run as well.

Warren 13, Antioch 2: Hannah Nommensen (7 strikeouts in 3 innings) and Sage Staranowicz combined on a five-inning no-hitter in the North Suburban crossover.

Sabrina Trevino homered and doubled for Warren. Nocole Somppi was 3-for-4 with a double, and Crystal Pennell finished 2-for-4. Kayla Nommensen doubled as well.

Antioch was no-hit for the second day in a row.

Vernon Hills 9, Lake Forest 2: Nicole Pieper was 4-for-5, Rose Ferolo finished 3-for-4 with as double, Delaney Bowen went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, and the Cougars cruised in their North Suburban crossover.

Sara Lenzi had a single and 4 RBI, and Tatiana Guletsky contributed a double.

Libertyville 11, Johnsburg 0: The Wildcats won the nonconference game to improve to 18-6.

Winning-pitcher Hannah Heraty (16-6) scattered 4 hits in 4 innings and did not walk a batter. Franny Quenan struck out one in her 1 scoreless and hitless inning.

Offensively for the Wildcats, Sam Hilldale and Allison Flores were both 3-for-3. Heraty was 2-for-2 with a homer. Jessie Lauret also went 2-for-3, and Sarah Hoyer finished 1-for-1 with 2 RBI.
