Good to see increased coverage of lacrosse

Thank you for the excellent article "How Lacrosse Became an IHSA Sport" on April 26. You are correct that the sport is booming and growing in popularity. While originally dominated by East coast teams, the sport has spread across the country.

In fact, the sport is currently being played (very well!) by several local high school teams in the Northwest suburbs. Saint Viator High School, Libertyville, Glenbrook North, Loyola Academy, and Grayslake North are just a few of the local high schools currently playing. In fact, Friday night's Saint Viator vs. Carmel game featured the U9 "Junior Lions" lacrosse team playing at halftime.

It is clearly a growing sport of the future.

We enjoyed reading about other "club" teams recently featured (Stampede Hockey March 19) and hope this signals a time for greater coverage of "club" sports by the Daily Herald. Especially as these "club sports" move into fully sanctioned IHSA sports.
