Montana players drafted, signed with NFL teams

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Two athletes who played college football in Montana were drafted by NFL teams over the weekend, while three signed free agent contracts and two others received rookie camp invitations.

Montana defensive end Tyrone Holmes was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round Saturday while Montana State tight end Beau Sandland went to the Super Bowl runner-up Carolina Panthers in the seventh round. He was the second-to-last pick.

Montana wide receiver Jaamal Jones reached a free agent agreement with the San Diego Chargers, Montana State offensive tackle John Weidenaar agreed to a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals and Carroll College offensive tackle Josh James has a free agent agreement with the Green Bay Packers.

Montana wide receiver Ben Roberts was invited to the Tennessee Titans rookie camp while the Kansas City Chiefs invited Montana's Herbert Gamboa to rookie camp to try out for a spot at safety.
