1886 northeastern Indiana volunteer fire bell restored

ALBION, Ind. (AP) - A 130-year-old bell used to summon volunteer firefighters in northeastern Indiana has been restored.
The Albion Volunteer Fire Department bell was purchased for $400 in 1886 with money raised at a strawberry and ice cream event by the community. It was placed on the fire station to alert volunteer firefighters.
The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1TaEReA ) has been restored by the Smith Bell and Clock Co. of Camby in Marion County. It wasn't clear how much the restoration cost.
The restored bell will be mounted in front of the Albion Volunteer Fire Station about 25 miles northwest of Fort Waye and dedicated to all volunteer firefighters.
