Mendoza breaks tie in 73rd, NYC beats Whitecaps 3-2

NEW YORK (AP) - Steven Mendoza broke a tie in the 73rd minute and New York City FC beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2 on Saturday to snap a seven-game winless streak.

David Villa had two first-half goals for New York City (2-3-4).

Octavio Rivero and Christian Bolonos scored for Vancouver (3-5-2).
