Punished for being foe of global warming?
Recently the Attorneys General of 16 states have considered legal consequences for speaking out against the existence of global warming, or climate change as the cool kids call it.
Even the Attorney General of the United States has indicated she will consider punishing global warming naysayers as well. What!
Ironically it was 400 years ago in 1616 that the Catholic church warned Galileo "not to hold, teach or defend in any manner" the Copernican theory that the Earth orbits the sun and not the other way around. The prevailing authority's official position was the sun orbits the Earth and that's that. And they would not tolerate any opposing views. After all, nobody likes to look stupid lest their egos get ruffled and the masses lose faith.
Galileo didn't listen, he published his scientific findings and was subsequently arrested and would eventually die under house arrest.
In today's enlightened world, where we all know better, there simply couldn't exist a omnipotent governing entity that would summarily demand subservience of thought and word for fear of suffering the slings of governmental retribution.
The reason we know this couldn't happen in today's modern society is the same reason that if we like our doctors and health insurance policies, we can keep them.
And the greatest threat to the United States' national security is global warming.
